Texas Hill Country FreeCycling

What is FreeCycling?

Freecycling is posting the items that you no longer need or want instead
of sending it off to the landfill. If it is something that is still usuable, chances
are that someone else might be needing it!

Freecycling is a win win thing for both the giver and the and the receiver and
an added bonus is that it won't fill up our landfills!

How do you get started Freecycling? Send an email to:
TX_Hill_Country_Freecycling-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

You will receive an email that will let you know how to proceed.

After you have joined the group and are ready in ask for something that you
need or have to give away-

Remember to:
Be specific in your email about what it is you have to give away or what it is
you are wanting and be sure and include where or how you want people to
contact you.

Your very first post should be something that you have to give away, OR,
your first post could be a combined Wanted/Offer message also.

Please do not join this list to acquire free items to sell. Freecycling is about
people giving things away to people who could use them or people asking
for things that they honestly need.

If you're not ready to join the list but would like to check it out, click on

Freecycling in the Texas Hill Country is not affiliated with Freecycle ®
'www.freecycle.org'
. Many of us were among the original members of the
Austin Freecycle network which has become exclusive to members of that
specific area over the years. After being removed from that list, many of us
gave the 'Hill Country Freecycle' list a try but most of it's membership is a
good two hours away from our area (Dripping Springs/Wimberley) and it can
take up to three days (or never) for a post to be approved which for those of
us who have garbage pickup on Monday and list our garage sales leftovers
on Saturday evening or Sunday, by the time the message has been
approved, the leftovers have been bagged up and hauled off- SO, we decided
to do our own thing because we feel it is essential to the ideal that
Freecycling be a positive thing to do and to keep it a positive thing, it must
work flawlessly for participants. It is the same idea as Freecycle
® but
hopefully we can keep Freecycling working more effectively for folks in our
area of the Texas Hill Country.
